Bike route To Pustevny to Radhost

Like the sky-high barrier looks the Beskids ridge from the northern side, from the foot-hill of the mountains. But we are not afraid of this heights that look like to be unreachable and today we go to visit Radegast – patron and symbol of the Beskids. We go from Frenstat to the foothills of Knehyne and Stolova. We turn to the valley Tisnav and from Podolanka we go up to Martinek. On the beautiful way we go to Pustevny and Radhost where is the timbered church and the sculpture of Cyril and Method. If we could reach the sun on the chest and jump around the sculpture on one leg three times, the Radegast will grant our wishes. And if you wish to have beautiful and long way down to Frenstat, he will not be very busy.
The course of route
The route is of middle level. We start in Frenstat pod Radhostem via villages Planisko and Na Bystrem, we join the green marked path and after 1,5 km we turn left from this path to the way under the hills of Velka Stolova and Mala Stolova. Then we turn right to join marked cycling lane nr. 46. We pass by the villages Raztoka, Skurecena and Bariny. From Bariny leads 15 km long nature trail Radegast going on the ridge of western part of Moravskoslezske Beskids. We continue on the same cycling lane and go on the lane nr. 6046 to Pustevny, where we can get a short refreshment, buy some souvenirs and admire the beauties of the neighbourhood. Beautiful views are waiting for us up on Radhost. When we are full of views from Radhost, we go back to Pustevny and we can go on on the path around the top Norici hill via the nature reserve Norici and after sharp bend after 3,5 km we join blue marked cycling lane nr. 6016 or we can join this cycling lane already in Pustevny and it leads us back to Frenstat pod Radhostem.

Natural and cultural places of interest
Frenstat pod Radhostem
The town in Frenstat`s groove, resort and tourist point for trips to the Beskids. In the year 1884 the was estblished the 1st tourist club Mountain unit Radhost that started to promote the tourism and built the mountains chalets and shelters. On the square there is New-Romanesque town hall from the year 1890 with the memorial plaque of the olympic winner in ski jumps – Jiri Raska who was born here in 1941. Parish church of St. Martin is Baroque on the cross ground plan from the year 1688, on the altar there is Wallachian Madonna. Many houses have arcade and young fasades.
Pustevny
Mountain recreation, tourist and ski resort in the Beskids, called according to the hermits. The tourist buildings there were built by Mountain unit Radhost since the year 1891 (Pustevna), then followed Sumna (1894), Mamenka (1898), Libusin (1898) and the last one Tanecnice (1926). The wooden buildings (Pustevna, Mamenka, Libusin and Zvonicka) were built according to the project of an architect Dusan Jurkovic and this sights are protected. In the dining room in Libusin there are paintings according to the Mikolas Ales. Views from the garden-house Cyrilka. It is a finish station of the lift from Raztoka.
Radhost
One of the well-known hills (1,129 metres above the sea level) in the Beskids with beautiful views. It used to be a cultive place of old Slavs to adore the god Radegast. In 1862 the festival of people (15,000) for the laws of the nation. In the year 1868 the foundation-stone for the National Theatre in Prague was taken from here. The typical dominant of the hill is a pilgrimage wooden chapel of Cyril and Method from the years 1896-1898, near is cross and the sculpture of St. Cyril and Method made by Albin Polasek in 1931. 2 km to the east on the ridge there is a statue of Radegast made also by Albin Polasek in 1931. The place of the whole-year tourism. The natural reserve of the same name – woods of the high levels of the Beskids, pine grove, beechwoods with rowans and sycamores.
Trojanovice
Large mountain village with scattered settlement. There are buildings of folk architecture in the village, valuable wooden chapel on Bystre from the year 1721. In front of the school there is monument of the casualties in bouth wars with the statue made by Jan Knebl in 1946. Many recreation cottages and resorts, hotels Raztoka, Beskyd and U Kociana. The village is connected with Pustevny by the small road “Knizeci” (Princely) and by the chair-lift from Raztoka.
