Sovinec

It is the complex of the castle (fortress) at the rocky spur in the mountain valley of Nízký Jeseník. The castle was founded by family members in 1348. The castle was confiscated to Jan Kobylka from Kobylí due to his revolt against Habsburk who gained it by marriage in 1600. The castle became the property of German knights order. During the Second World War the prison was established here and base of SS groups. After the liberation the castle burned down and the reconstruction has been carried out till nowadays. During the recent years there has been a rich cultural life at the castle. Admission, length of tour is about 30-40 minutes.

Velké Losiny

Complicated chateau complex with a park in the wide valley is located close to the village. The area around Losiny had belonged to the king chamber for long time but it kept being pawned. The pawnbrokers built here the fort, which is mentioned in 1577. The strong rounded wall and the Gothical portal of the gate in the eastern wing is the relic of it. The chateau has not been fortunately touched significantly by later modifications and also the atmosphere of mass theurgical processes from 1678-92 disappeared long ago. The inquisitional tribunal of František Boblig from Edelstadt had only in Losiny 56 people burned to death. In close Šumperk the frequency of witches was probably lower as there were “only” 30 stakes fired up.

Hand-made paper works – Velké Losiny – is one of the oldest still working European manufactures for paper production was established in Velké Losiny in the 16th century. In 1987 a special museum of paper production was established here (the only one in the Czech Republic), which is open for public. The sightseeing tour goes through the most attractive parts of the object including the crucial workplace of hand-made paper production.

Rejvíz

At the vast area of 270 ha the nature preserve is situated, which attracts by its unique peatbogs around Small mossy lake and Big mossy lake, the origin of which is estimated for period 6-9000 years ago. Big mossy lake is accessible through the education path at the causeway of timber. The visitors can see with their own eyes more than 200 species of plants and grasses, 50 species of bryophytes. Státní zámek Hradec nad Moravicí (State Chateau Hradec upon Moravice)

The Slavic fortified settlement was standing at place of today´s chateau already in 9th century and it was replaced in the middle of 11th century by duke castle and 200 years later by castle of the king Přemysl. At the end of 16th century Kašpar Pruskovský from Pruskov started the total renaissance reconstruction. In 1778 the manor was bought by dukes Lichnovští of Voštice, who renovated the chateau in the empire style after 1796. At the end of 19th century so called Red chateau, White tower and castle walls grew up close to the main chateau building. The sightseeing tour through the luxury salons reminds also the stays of Ludwig van Beethoven and Ferenc Liszt. The chateau picture gallery present the collections of the original duke gallery.

Raduň

The medieval fort was being reconstructed during 16th century under Tvorkovský of Kravaře to the renaissance chateau. In the course of time the dilapidated object had been totally reconstructed due to the impulse of Jan Larisch- Mönnich during 1816-1822; the project of reconstruction in Empire style was made by Johann Anton English. During 1832-1947 the manor was owned by Blücherové of Wahlstatt, who had gradually added the office house, orangery, sheepfold and fortification walls. The tour of visitors go through the rooms of duke´s apartment and the chateau library with 16 000 books.

Karlova Studánka Spa

The messages about first experiments of using the local springs for curative purposes come from 17th century, but spa was established 100 years later, in 1785, when the entire Bruntál manor belonged after confiscation following the battle on White Mountain in 1320, to the order of German knights. In 1785 at the Lower spring there was built a wooden bath house with 15 cabins, where there were reputedly two wooden baths for bath cures. The salutary strength of the springs was attracting more and more visitors. The curative procedure was as follows – water for bath was heated up by the hot slag, which was transferred from Hubert works at the wagons to the place of today´s spa. The important role in history of Karlova Studánka (Charles´ well) was plaid by the village with the blast furnace for iron melting, established in 1703 by grand master of the order of German knights Ludvik. After establishment of spa in 1785 and after construction of first wooden building at the end of 18th century, the interest and flow of patients in 19th century called for construction of therapeutic houses built of bricks.

Bruntál

It is a renaissance chateau with baroque features. The strong wall of the southern wing is the former gothic wall. However the beginnings of the castle, on the foundations of which the chateau was build are very unclear. The chateau had belonged to the ownership of the order of German soldiers and it has been owned by the state since 1945.

Zlatorudné Mlýny

The educational path brings you to the place where water flows into the raceway and also to the place where “water flows up to the hill”. The local exhibits represent the historical treatment of golden ore by milling and grinding. In the upper building there is ore stamp installed, in the lower building there is a mill. In ores of Zlaté hory the most of gold is bound to pyrite.

Waterfalls of Bílá Opava

Lovely walk which can start in Karlova Studánka, (length 3 km) or in Bělá pod Pradědem (2, 5 km). We don´t recommend it in winter as the path goes through the higher locations and road might be icy.

Pilgrimage place Mary the Mercy

This popular place of pilgrimage has the roots in the Swedish times, although it was recognized as the place of pilgrimage only two generations later. The religious place is decorated with marvellous pictures and mural painting, which had made the stay of thousands of pilgrims more pleasant but they also gave them back the pleasure and peace of mind. Church, chapel, small chapels, Stations of the Cross was decorated with pictures which remind us the history of Church. The creators of these works were well known Silesian painters Franz Templer and Emil Brendel.

Pumped storage plant Dlouhé Stráně

Pumped storage water plant is a very interesting work, thanks its technical parameters and also its fitting in the highest parts of Hrubý Jeseník with the view to Praděd. The power station has been working since 1996. It uses the overflow of electricity mainly during night hours and between the peaks to pump water from the lower to the upper tank. In time of increased consumption then the electrical energy is produced in the turbine mode. The significance of pumped storage water plant Dlouhé Stráně is first of all in regulation of output and frequency. It is the biggest water energy work in our republic and the performance of the aggregate is the biggest of that sort in Europe.

Praděd

The most mighty mountains is Hrubý Jeseník with the highest Mountain Praděd 1 492 m above sea. It would not be very remarkable with its flat peak, but its unforgettable face is created by 145 m high tower at the top, which was built instead of the old stone observation tower. The peak of Praděd is already above the border of forest, which is stretching along in the height of 1300 m. 20 mountaintops are higher in Hrubý Jeseník. (Keprník 1424 m, Šerák 1351 m, Petrovy kameny 1438 m, Vysoká hole 1464 m a Jelení hřbet 1367 m).

Jánský Vrch

History of chateau of Jánský Vrch, started already in the 2nd half of 13th century, when the castle was built in a strategically beneficial place above the Javornické settlemement by Svidničtí. During 15th century the castle was partially damaged. Not only by Hussite wars, but by the bishopric itself, that had the protection system demolished, not to allow the castle become the support of possible enemy. Big reconstruction and rebuilding of the object was carried out at the end of 15th century. During these modifications also name was changed in honour of benefactor of Vratislav bishop, Jan Křtitel, for Jánský Vrch. The final reconstruction of the original castle, later on the seat with more comfortable late renaissance palace for the baroque chateau was carried out in 18th century. In 1959 chateau Jánský Vrch was lend to the state. Putting under state control was made after Polish and Czech Catholic Church equalization, in 1984. Jánský Vrch has two main sightseeing tours. The first one go through the rooms of the chateau, the part of the tour is collection of pipes and requisites of smokers. Another one goes through the farming facilities, which are usually hidden. Preserved gas lighting and exhibition of historical gas appliance are interesting.
