Lomnice nad Luznici
Lomnice nad Luznici is situated in a picturesque countryside among a lot of ponds and there is come under castle with had the same name. The castle had a first remark his owner Oldrich from Lomnice as early as year 1265. The name is originate in a title brook is situated and it is mentions already from year 1367 (Lomnice rivulus). The name is derivative out of old Czech adjective LOMNA, it is watter of din noisy or like many times pointed arch of brook. Since of the end 18th century (1789) is atribute add disagreement on Luznice although the river is distanc from then 2,5 km. Nature trail Velký Lomnický has total length 6,5 km and has 15 stations. 1st stage was launched in the year 2001, at that time there were 12 stations and length 5,4 km. The disadvantage of this trail was that the trail was not built in the circle and visitors had to go the trail back and forth, this lowered partly the actractivity of the trail. In spring of the year 2005 was finaly built the planed circle and because of it was the trail enlarged for another 1 130 m and enlarged for further 3 stations. First stop is in the Zámecká street direct at Golden canal above fish-pond Jordán. Part of this station is multipurpose area Farská louka, where you can find from spring till autumn pleasant relaxation and space for sitting down and refreshment in the kiosk. There are organized traditional festivals of whitches, country fairs, festivals, balls; new building equiped by PC and public internet is used as training center for different seminars. Second stop is located at the fish-pond Vydimač behind the old cemetery and to the further stops you already hike on both banks of Golden Canal up to fish-pond Velký Lomnický. Single information tables will bring you into beautiful nature oriented in farming, hunting, fauna and flora of our region. Part of some stations are places for relaxation, helping elements for kids (crossbar, swing), you will find here look-out-tower or observation place on water. Sensitive visitor can find here relaxation in the form of active rest, observation of beautiful nature and observation of its nice saisonal metamorphoses. Nature trail Velký Lomnický was constructed with financial support of European Union. National natural reservation (NPR) Big and Small Tisý belongs with its area among biggest and most important wetlands in the Czech Repunlic and is classified as an area for which are valid further protective status. Itś a part or large over-regional bio-centre Old river - Rosenberg - Big Tisý, part of the wetland of international meaning "Třeboňské rybníky"(Třeboň ponds) protected according Ramsars Convention and on the List of European important birds areas (IBA) is listed as one of the important localities inside of CR. Natural monument "Chicken Hill" protects on the area cca 1.8 ha outstanding geomorphological formation, sand ridge with characteristic psamophil (gerbil and thermophile) flora and fauna. Sand ridge was formed on the end of the glacial period or on the beginning of the post-glacial period by the western wind laid fine sand from the sediment from near-by river Lužnice. There is possible, that on the beginning of colonization was the ridge covered by thin forest, which in further centuries under the influence of human activity gained more and more a shape of open dune with spread wood species and great areas of free sands. Church of St. Wenceslaus in Lomnice nad Lužnicí was founded in 1359 by Vilém jr. from Landštejn (Vyšehrads provost and highest Chancellor of Bohemian Kingdom) originaly as castle chapel of Corpus Cristi and St. Peter and Paul. From that time originates its gothical ground plan, with scheme of pointed and parabolic cross vault of the choir with prop.
